Information & Insight

The objective of gathering, storing and enriching data is to help people make better decisions. The data analytics and visualisation capability of Optimate helps to drive benefits by showing the right information, at the right time, and in the right context.

Using state of the art technology and frameworks like Pi Vision, PowerBI, R and Python in an agile and user-driven development process, our consultants integrate insight into the operation process where it provides value.

Our experience with clients ranges from production reporting to our decision automation, and from wall-to-wall Operations Centre screens to highly customised mobile displays.

Practice Lead Information & Insight

Alan Lark

As the Practice Lead for Information and Insight, Alan is focussed on bringing operational data to business users to inform their decision making and provide measurable value to their business. With 10 years working in the Western Australian Power utility sector, Alan has first-hand, practical experience using operational data to inform a broad range of business functions including Engineering, Asset Management, Market and Trading, Operations and Finance. Alan has a particular passion for bridging the gap between IT and engineering/operations. Having worked extensively within both of these business functions; Alan brings a unique perspective which allows him to accelerate mutually beneficial and trusted solutions.

The Information and Insight (I&I) practice has been established within Optimate in order to focus business development and the establishment of re-usable offerings around the enrichment, interrogation and transformation of operational data.

As with the other three practices, I&I does not perform a project management or staff management function, however it directly supports both through:

– Architectural standards informing consistency of estimation and design

– Defining key technology components (preferred/core as well as emerging, secondary)

– Defining key capabilities which form Optimate’s Information and Insight specific service offering in order to guide staff development opportunities and identify additional skillsets to target through recruitment or strategic partnership

– Nurturing and maintaining a knowledge base and repository of reusable artefacts to aid future design and project works
